Meet Stillwater

Stillwater Collection

If you have followed our journey over the past several months, you will know of the hurdles we have faced as retailers of all sizes have navigated unprecedented changes to the industry. In preparation for our busiest shopping season, Dakota and I had handpicked an assortment of summer styles and new sustainable brands that were intended to ordain and overflow the new shop on Bellevue. As Summer swiftly came and went, the new collections that we intended to introduce to you cancelled deliveries, pushed back orders, or even ended their wholesale business all together. There's nothing more that Dakota and I love than the feeling of introducing our customers to their next favorite brand, so this pause in the growth of our assortment has felt like a hindrance to our mission to be your personal "treasure hunters."

We are thrilled that as we dive into October, many brands have pushed "play" from their Summer "pause" and we are now embarking on a Fall and Holiday season more enriching, fun, and fashion-forward than we could have even anticipated. New brands and collections are about to adorn our website, social media, and shop windows, and after many months of suspended excitement - we are thrilled to finally make their introduction.

Meet Stillwater

Stillwater embodies all of the complexities of being a modern woman. Whether you identify as a coastal bohemian goddess, a city board room baddy, or something in between, this brand has something for you. Launched in 2014 by Los Angeles native Lisa Popp, Stillwater captures the elusive balance for the boho babe with a modern, urban lifestyle. The collections are designed with clean lines and sexy details, so the style is ultra-refined yet unapologetically undone. Stillwater sources locally in Los Angeles, utilizing recycled or deadstock materials and supporting fair-wage domestic production. By maintaining local production, Stillwater is better able to control the quality and transparency for each step of the process - everything from sourcing to production occurs within 10 miles of the downtown office. Stillwater produces exclusively in small batches, advocating that they want to leave the world a better and more refined place than they found it.

I have completely fallen for Stillwater's effortlessly put together yet relaxed styles. It reminds me of some of my favorite elements from Gentle Fawn, but with an elevated and luxurious style and fabrication due to its sustainable production and fabric sourcing. I have noticed in my own personal style gravitating toward clean, minimalist staples that I can make uniquely my own when paired with laid back, west-coast inspired pieces. Stillwater is a brand that doesn't set boundaries, but rather encourages and inspires creativity and ingenuity.

Stillwater Lifestyle

I have become a little blazer obsessed over the past year - falling in love with the way a simple neutral blazer can immediately elevate a look to chic and polished. Stillwater's The Black Blazer strikes the note of being put together yet coolly relaxed. This closet staple is ideal if you want something simple and lightweight for the Fall season and, with its tailored yet slightly oversized fit, it becomes a lovely complement for anything from your most professional blouses to a flowy maxi (as seen on Dakota!). I also love that the fabrication is 30% linen, it makes for a perfect lightweight, breathable, and comfortable layer no matter the weather. We have her paired with the stunning Yellow Bambi Memz Maxi from Stillwater that is that iconic hue of marigold dominating this Fall season. Stillwater hits the right note with the silhouette and versatility of this maxi. The high slit creates movement and highlights whatever shoe you pair her with, whether it be a tie-up heel for a formal affair or a white sneaker for an afternoon of errands. She is a mesmerizing combination of being bright and playful alone, but then I love how she can just be the right pop-of-color when paired with neutrals or natural tones.

Stillwater Lilac Soho Mini

For our most recent shoot, I was able to wear a sample of the Lilac Soho Mini - she should be arriving in the store in the next couple of weeks! This beauty truly epitomizes that effortless balance of a laidback, polished closet staple. Composed of 100% silky rayon, she moves like water and adds something modern and new to a classic yet timeless silhouette. I wanted to showcase her as a mini with my favorite fall booties, but her length makes her an ideal tunic if you wanted to pair her with the Suede Onyx Legging or a vegan leather legging for a contrast of textures. The lilac color is absolutely to die for and in cooler light resembles a muted silver that would be ideal for nights out or even Holiday events. She is something I could imagine reaching for time and time again because she transforms depending on what you style her with.

Finally, the White Favorite Shirt is our last style from this first Stillwater delivery - a modern take on a timeless piece. I have always had a love/hate relationship with button downs. Growing up, I associated them with a more preppy style (which my west-coast sensibilities firmly rejected), and then once I entered the work force I relied on them too much for meetings, conferences, and office wear. I always found them ill-fitting, boxy, and something reserved for work rather than play. This button-down challenges all of those old ideas, and has me completely smitten. I have admittedly ordered an extra size for myself in this beauty. I love the relaxed, effortless fit of this classic design and know I'm going to want to pair her with everything from light-washed denim and mules to my go-to vegan leather legging and black booties. Composed of 100% cotton voile, she's going to be a seasonless and timeless basic.

These styles from Stillwater are about to add so much depth and newness into our shop's assortment! As minimalistic staples, they fulfill a niche of polish and timelessness and become fundamental building blocks in our conscious closets. They pair effortlessly with so many established Harper & Tucker brands, but I anticipate they will ultimately stand on their own and become a favorite for our shoppers. As of today, we have the Black Blazer currently in-stock but the other styles are now all available for Pre-Order and expected to ship in the next couple of weeks! Click here to shop the assortment in entirety, and know that we will continue to get new styles throughout the season.

Wishing you all a beautiful end to your September and hope you're enjoying the Fall foliage and cooler temperatures as much as we are!
