Pool season has finally arrived in Dallas – it’s time to pull out the koozies, floats, and bikinis! Summer is my favorite time of year and there’s not much I love more than a day by the water...

Valentine's Day

Valentine’s day is one of my favorite holidays, but not for the traditional reasons. Whether I’m single or coupled up, I’ve never seen it as a romantic day – it’s always been more of a girl’s day for me. I have a nostalgia for the kid’s version – sweethearts, hand-written valentines in cubby holes, heart confetti...It’s a girlie holiday, there’s no doubt about it, and in that spirit, everyone should splurge a little and get something new and fun to wear – no matter your plans...

Holiday Parties Fashion Guide

One of my very favorite parts about this time of year is the excuse for get-togethers. Holiday parties come in all shapes and sizes, and dressing up for all of these events can either be so fun or unnecessarily stressful. Thanksgiving Style

It won’t shock anyone that I’ve always used every excuse to dress up. Fashion is a part of each holiday’s celebration at my family’s house, whether we are having a party or just a small dinner. We begin each holiday with twinkling glasses of champagne and I always start the night out in heels...

Festivalware

For the second year in a row, Dakota and I attended Austin City Limits’ opening weekend. There is no closer feeling to invincibility than standing in the center of a crowd, staring at a stage framed by the Austin skyline, and hearing the music of your generation. The only thing second to the music that makes a festival is the fashion...

High Low Fashion

"Women are dressing high, low, and every point in between and recognizing that this approach is not only practical, it's virtually a status symbol of style know-how...True style setters don't rely solely on their platinum AmEx to amass an enviable wardrobe. Rather, they count on sharp fashion sense that works as well at the Gap as it does at Gucci." - Nandini D'Souza Wolfe, Harpers Bazaar.

Modern fashionistas are lauded for their ability to find personal style in no-name brands, middle market brands, and luxury brands and to mix these designers all together. High-low fashion isn’t new anymore, but it’s how the real style-obsessed shop. It’s how modern women build their wardrobes. This new definition of fashion means splurging where it counts and picking up effortless, less expensive pieces to create a cohesive yet eclectic look. One might wear an Hermes bracelet with a dress spotted and picked up on a Target run. A Celine Phantom bag might be hanging on the arm of a girl wearing a Show Me Your Mumu romper. The lines of what makes up status-worthy taste is blurred, and style is valued over the price of the individual pieces of an outfit. While this comes naturally and poses a fun challenge to some fashion-forward shoppers, it can be enviable and intimidating to others...
