Now more than ever, collection drops from Spell have us waiting with bated breath, anticipating beautiful, unique pieces that we know will only be fleetingly available. We love the ritual and buzz Spell has created around these drops - it brings together the community of Spell-lovers as they share how they style new pieces, chat about favorites, and help each other to treasure hunt for hard-to-find gems that sell out so quickly.
Drop time is always special, but with the backdrop of the pandemic, it hits differently. Spell is making drastically fewer styles, so the collections from March through the remainder of 2020 are especially precious. Spell always produces collections in limited batches, which adds to the life-long magic and value of their pieces, but this year even the normally limited quantities have been slashed to less than half. We place our orders six months or more in advance, and the pieces we order are made especially for us. So when Spell made the decision to cancel some styles due to covid-19, we were unable to go back and order more of the styles that would be produced. When drop time happens, these days we are much in the same position as you are, scrambling to order whatever extra stock Spell may have, so we can then get the pieces to you! While we wish styles hadn't been cancelled, we do appreciate how scarcity makes the pieces that are made from these 2020 collections even more special.
In that spirit, we have been lucky enough to secure more styles from Mystic Drop 1! These styles are currently available for PRE-ORDER; this means that the styles are still making their way to our boutique. We are expecting to receive the shipment from Spell by late August, and as soon as the shipment arrives, we ship your orders out the same day! So, without further ado, here is our MYSTIC EDIT!
The Mystic Collection has enchanted us with the print details of roaming wild horses, bright blooms, and metallic threading. In the words of Spell, "mystic is a collection infused with symbology, palmistry, and incantations of the night sky, threaded with more visceral hints of a wild and romantic existence." The essence of this collection captures mysticism, bringing images to our minds of tarot cards, moon phases, meditations, crystals, and fortune telling. We love indulging our attraction to the unknown and magical, so this collection holds a special place in our hearts. We have fallen for both the nightfall and musk color-ways - the darker shades of blues and black shimmer with gold contrast like celestial nighttime, while the bright pinks and peony purples are a picture of midsummer romance.
One of my favorite details of the sets from mystic is the contrasting fabrications and textures. The Nightfall Mystic Blouse is threaded with gold metallic lurex, while the paired Nightfall Mystic Bells are a matte take on the print, with no metallic detailing at all. The cotton, modal, and elastane fabrication of the bells make them perfectly stretchy, and work beautifully with the more delicate drapey fabric of gold-threaded blouse. The contrasting textures make for an interesting set that does not come across as too matchy, despite the print-on-print. And while we love this set together, we think she is equally striking when broken up. The blouse pairs beautifully with a tailored black pant or black denim, and the bells bring a dose of boho bliss to any black bodysuit, tank, or crop. As the temperatures drop, we even love the bells with a cream open-knit sweater.
The theme of contrasting textures continues with the Musk Mystic Set. The Musk Mystic Blouse is adorned with same the gold thread as her Nightfall sister, and the Musk Mystic Flutter Shorts are matte finish like the bells. This look together is a little more free-spirited than the Nightfall set - we love the look of the musk blouse tucked in, golden threads twinkling, while the flutter shorts show off sun-bronzed legs. However, this set is also lovely broken up - we adore the shorts with an oversized cream sweater for chilly nights, or any kind of neutral tank. The blouse in musk plays well with denim, plus all of your summer whites!
I love complimenting these sets with a woven bag - try the Tulum Tote or Ivory Rose Bag by Cleobella. These beauties will give your ensemble an effortless, breezy air while storing everything you need to bring along!
I fell harder for Mystic when I spied the subtle herd of horses galloping across the print (hint: find them in the sleeve of the blouses, the border near the ankles of the bells, and in the gold band of the mini dress).
The Nightfall Mystic Mini shines with gold threading details and lace inlays. I am loving the idea of pairing her with a tall black boot as Summer fades into Fall, and she is the PERFECT match for our new Akasha Bag by Cleobella. She works with the natural or black color - pick the beaded babe you like best!
This bag can take the mini from dinner out to an evening soire when you swap your boots for a slender heel and add some dainty jewels. If you are looking for an even more elevated look for a Fall or Winter event, we have two longer hemline options for you:
The Mystic gold threading detail has its hayday with The Black Mystic Sleeveless Midi. The tailored fit sets her apart, with button details and slight ruffle at the sleeve. Then boho meets old Hollywood glam in the Ecru Petal Jacquard Nightgown - we love the embossed details, and think she radiates cool-girl confidence at an event when paired with gold jewelry and a spindly heel.
Drops in this time are filled with mystery, and we still aren't 100% sure if this will be our final re-stock, or if more styles may become available in the future. We are loving this edit of Mystic, and also can let you know that there is so much more beauty to come in Mystic Part 2 next month!
We will be returning to hosting Happy Hour this Friday, August 14 at 5:30 EST @harperandtucker! We will have some surprises in store for you so bring a cocktail, your styling ideas and questions to our live! We will be chatting all things Mystic, new accessories, and catching you up on what has been going on at the boutique these past couple of weeks.

"Our design team's mood board for Folk Song was filled with, as usual, vintage photographs of muses from the 70s. This time, maybe a reflection of the time it was created, a lot of it was based on open spaces, adventures on the road and nature. A feeling of freedom but in quaint places on the road, the kind of getaway that ends up as dog eared, worn photographs in a family photo album. " - Spell
We are thrilled to reveal Spell's Folk Song collection at harperandtucker.com at the official drop time tonight: Monday, May 17 at 8pm EST!
