    THE SUMMER EDIT

  • H&T Edit: Work From Home

    September 15, 2020

While the economy is reopening and a semblance of normalcy increases day-by-day, many of us still are uncertain when and if we will be able to return to the office. Many companies and professional offices continue to mandate employees to work remotely without a specified end-date, and (in some cases) indefinitely. For many that means trying to create a work environment and routine at home that not only will encourage productivity, but also keep spirits high as the comforts of home blend with the duties of the work day.

If you did not have a home office before, you may have innovated one from your sofa, dining table, or kitchen countertop. As many of us prepare to work from home for months to come, we face the dilemma of feeling fatigue in our day-to-day routine without the dynamic work week of in-person meetings, collaboration, and events. The once novel oversized tees, sweat pants and makeup-free days are now found wanting, and we are trying to strike the elusive balance of feeling of being both put-together yet comfortable.

Six months into the pandemic with more months ahead, I want to introduce you to items that have elevated my working from home routine and created an encouraging and dynamic daily environment for my 'home office'. Here is our WFH collection!

    Dresscode

Only a week away from the fall equinox, the bright and balmy summer days are now transitioning into crisp mornings and sun-kissed afternoons. While the cooler temperatures are just around the corner, we still have beautiful warm weather days ahead so we still have time to enjoy our favorite lightweight and breezy fabrics!

Show Me Your Mumu Caroline Mini Dress

Show Me Your Mumu's Caroline Mini Dress in Mustard, Navy and Ocean Stripe is the ultimate example of a put-together yet relaxed daily look. You can easily throw her on after a morning shower, comfortably sit cross-legged on the sofa during the work day, and then pair her with white sneakers for a quick post-work grocery run! I also love how lightweight and breezy she is, so you can still take advantage of afternoon sunshine, working outdoors - soaking up rays on a Wednesday.

    Khaki Horton RomperBlack Horton Romper

One of our newest fall styles from Show Me Your Mumu is a versatile piece for lounging, but will also have you feeling put together to jump on a zoom call. The Horton Romper in Khaki and Black is relaxed, yet you can button her all the way up for a little structure and extra coverage. I would style either colorway with a white bootie for taking her out-on-the-town but the relaxed fit makes her an ideal choice for dressing up at home!

    Violet Bellflower Track Pants

I have been living in loose-fitting and relaxed pants all summer long! I find that while I am just as comfortable as I am in sleepwear, I still feel put-together and prepared for my work day. My favorite this summer has been Jen's Pirate Booty Violet Bellflower Track Pants (I'm wearing them as we speak!). I can pair these pants with one of my Joah Brown crops or tank, or even throw her on with a loose-fitting white v-neck for an effortless and comfy work outfit. I love how these pants also create an illusion of a maxi skirt, yet give you the versatility and mobility for walking your dog after work, running errands, and enjoying a well-deserved lounging session on the couch at the end of your work day!

    Joah Brown Collection

    Topper Collection

Finally, as the days get cooler and cooler, go-to cardis and pullovers not only keep you cozy, but also diversify any simple WFH outfit. Joah Brown is my favorite brand to stay-home in, from the Black Cropped Cami to their Sueded Onyx Second Skin Legging, each piece is so well-fitted and comfy. In this long stretch, basics can make life feel like Groundhog Day as I reach for the same look time and time again. This is why I love completing the outfit with different cardis and pullovers so that I can feel like I've created something entirely new each day of the week. I love the La Crema Reed Duster Cardi on warmer days if you want something lightweight but still have that extra layer on top, but then the Clay Stripe McKenna Sweater (ON SALE!) is the perfect open cardi that's still chic yet cozy!

    Work-space

For my at-home work space, I wanted to curate a place that brought together different scents, home accessories, and brightness to my day-to-day.

    Natalie Work Station

Our Rewined Wine and Cocktail Candles continue to be one of my favorite additions to our lifestyle assortment. With a 60hr + burn-time, I like to light mine at the end of the day with afternoon tea for a warm, relaxing environment to finish off any projects. My personal favorite Wine Candle scent is the Pinot Noir -  I just love the earthy scent with a hint of tart cranberry. Then, there's something so refreshing about the Margarita Cocktail Candle (and the glass tumbler it comes in) that can kick off a morning with a citrus and blossom blend. You can complete the space with the complementary Cheers Matchbox and Brushed Gold Candle Snuffer just to set a fun, decorative ambiance while having all of the necessary tools close-by.

    Apothecary Co

I have plans to soon ordain my space with our newest goodies from Apothecary Company. Their effective and all-natural Hand Sanitizer is a minimalist and aesthetic add-on to your work space that you can easily access after leaving home to grab mail, walk your dog, or go on a quick errand. The New Moon Manifesting Mist provides aromatherapeutic benefits for further calming and uplifting mood boosts - something we can all use at times throughout the work day!

Creating a productive and positive home work environment relies not only on the routine of the day-to-day but also the little mood boosters to keep yourself energized. Whether that means throwing a new pullover over the same go-to pair of leggings, spritzing your favorite Pinrose perfume for an aromatic boost, or even lighting a candle as a midday treat - we all can find bright spots in the little things!
