Spotlight: Joah Brown
At Harper & Tucker, we are spending this January focused on filling the shop with clothing that can become the foundation of your conscious closet. For the last year, I have been on this journey of shaping a wardrobe that blends unique, bold pieces I love with everyday staples that are the building blocks of my style. This is why I am ecstatic to discuss our newest arrivals from Joah Brown - we are kicking off 2021 by going back to the basics.
It was just over a year ago that we wrote about Reinventing Our Basics and not only introduced Joah Brown to you, but also started the conversation about sustainable values in the fashion industry. Joah Brown was one of the first brands that we added to our shop with our new commitment to sustainability in mind and, in many ways, is a beacon for sustainable fashion. Yes, the brand is dedicated to ethical production in LA, and their styles are designed to not only last, but also be something you can wear every single day. I am not sure a day goes by that I’m not wearing a Joah Brown layer piece. I am completely addicted to their silky, soft fabrics and obsessed with the brand's mission for versatility in their styles - many of their designs can be worn both as a first-layer or a stand alone piece.
Dakota and I first viewed this collection nearly a year ago at February market, and full disclosure: the two of us ordered extras of our size in almost every piece. This collection branches out from some of our traditional Joah Brown staples, so if you are lover the brand, these pieces will be the perfect addition to your closet.
LAYERING
Clay Square Rib Neck Tank Bra ($58)
We are so excited to have the newest color in our bestselling Square Rib Tank! This has been our favorite layering piece since first getting the White and Black in stock and we are obsessing over this clay color. The buttery ribbed fabric is the ideal balance between stretch and structure.
Army Flex Rib Crop Tank ($58) | Dune Flex Rib Crop Tank ($58)
If you have loved our other Joah Brown pieces, you're absolutely going to obsess over this style. The rib crop tank is designed with both function and fashion in mind! Featuring their ultra soft and stretchy ribbed fabric, you could wear her all day as a layer under your favorite top, alone with a pair of sweats for the chicest loungewear, or you could even wear her as a crop paired with denim and a moto jacket. Regardless if you decide to wear her by herself or as a layer, we guarantee that you are going to quickly become obsessed and realize one color just won't be enough!

We have been addicted to Joah Brown's fitted tanks, and know that this Second Skin tank is about to be our newest favorite! If you have bought or tried on the Sueded Onyx Body Legging from us, you'll know that this fabrication is absolutely to die for and gives you a sleek, sculpted look. The buttery soft fabric seamlessly contours to your body, truly earning her name as "second skin." We love the idea of creating a chic athletic outfit with her on top, but this tank is so versatile you could pair her with a flowy maxi skirt to create a whimsical look with an hourglass silhouette.

If you're looking for something with not as high of a neckline but also stands alone, or easily layers under lower cut pullovers - the bare tank is just that piece! We fell in love with these skin-toned colorways, knowing these rich neutrals would pair perfectly with everything from white denim to a bright, printed maxi skirt. Taupe Rib Slip Dress ($108)
For me, finding a slip dress that balances both function and style has been nearly impossible! Either the slip serves no other purpose than to be a layer underneath or if it can be worn by itself, is never quite fitted enough for a seamless first layer. I am so pleased to say this new style hits all the right notes! It's versatile and form fitting so you can throw it under anything sheer (plus I love that the u-neckline makes it a versatile pairing) or you can style it with an oversized blazer and tie up heels for a super sexy, date night look.TOPS

No need to look any further for winter loungewear than this ultra cute off-the-shoulder pullover with fitted cuffs and relaxed sleeves! The Dolman gives me such 80's vibes and, unlike other loungewear, I know that I would feel dressed up throwing it on each day. It's an updated, fashionable take on a traditional pullover and boasts just the slightest amount of sex appeal without sacrificing any comfort. For a relaxed, everyday look you could throw her over your go-to brami and jeans or even layer her with an athletic crop and leggings if you just need something to throw-and-go! Am loving this loose-fitted option for a more laidback and casual style.

I have been personally dreaming of these cropped turtlenecks since seeing them at market last February and could not be more ecstatic that they have finally arrived at the shop! Featuring Joah Brown's favorite ribbed fabric and designed with little details such as fitted cuffs with thumbholes - I just know that I'm going to be reaching for this crop constantly over the next couple of months. I love that these tops feel both timeless and minimalist, but also elevated and on-trend. I personally think the Espresso would be stunning with a classic high-waisted dark-wash denim, but then think the Ivory could be paired with a maxi skirt for a little more feminine, boho-chic ensemble.
Black Classic Rib Turtleneck ($82)
I can completely understand if the crop length may not be for you, so we have this Black Classic Turtleneck as an alternative so you don't have to miss out on the trend! This turtleneck is designed so that the fit can both comfortably and fashionably highlight your silhouette, showing off your curves in all the right places. The ribbed fabric gives just a bit of texture to this turtleneck, but its formfitting fit makes it the easiest piece to just easily tuck. This is one of those winners that you can really pair this with anything from your closet.
OVERSIZED CARDIGAN

Dakota and I have literally been talking about these cardis since we first saw them at market (we each got it in both colors). I am OBSESSED with the feel of the custom knit French terry fabric (made of 100% cotton) and think the relaxed, oversized design makes it such a standout from anything currently in my closet. Its one-size-fits all sizing makes it the perfect gift for a girlfriend and is the most effortless addition and upgrade in your wardrobe. A seamless layer under heavier, winter coats, she is perfect for this time of year but she's also lightweight so I plan on traveling with her through the summer and draping her over my shoulders on cooler, crisper evenings. In my personal opinion, I don't anticipate these cardis lasting too long in the shop as they really make an impression in-person.
LEGGINGS
Sueded Onyx Body Legging ($104)
I have been kicking myself for not ordering our last pair of Joah Brown leggings, so when I saw that they were having a new release of the style I immediately did a little happy dance. Our customers have completely fallen in love with the Sueded Onyx blended fabric, and this new design has us completely over the moon! It has a slimming, body contouring fabrication and retains its shape all day while staying soft and buttery to the touch. This legging style is similar to the Second Skin Legging (also re-stocked!) but has a thin waistband for a sleeker, less athletic look. Featuring a high rise and full length design, it's the perfect layer under an oversized pullover or top, but then obviously styles seamlessly with the Sueded Onyx Second Skin Tank for a super chic athleisure look.
